About the Artist
Major Jon Teague was raised alongside his older brother in Hickory, NC in a household that encouraged excellence in academia and athletics. Jon and his brother excelled in school and sports, however, Jon’s parents observed an unexpected interest at a young age. Jon enjoyed handling a baseball, basketball, football, and soccer ball, but also a pencil and a paintbrush. In between academics, practices, games, and sports’ camps, Jon loved art. He experienced multiple types of media growing up. Despite a passion for art, Jon knew his talents in sports would provide greater opportunities in life. Jon followed in his brother’s footsteps and pursued an athletic scholarship to the United States Naval Academy. Jon played and lettered four years in football as the place kicker for the Naval Academy football team. Upon graduation, and after meeting the love of his life, Laura, he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps with an aviation contract. After flight school, Jon selected the KC-130J Hercules as his aircraft platform. Jon and Laura were first stationed in Miramar, CA at VMGR-352 for three years, where Jon served on two combat deployments to the Middle East. They then accepted four year orders to Iwakuni, Japan serving with VMGR-152. Jon and Laura were very fortunate to meet the Walters family in Japan. They also welcomed their two beautiful daughters to the world, Adelynn and Savannah. Jon and Laura are now stationed in Cherry Point, NC where Jon serves as a lead KC-130J instructor pilot in the community. Throughout it all, Jon has combined his love for aviation and art, and constantly looks forward to sharing his work with people in this wonderful community.
